Affordable House

In this project we took the floor plans we drew from the last project and used it to design a house in revit with certain constraints and codes.

I learned a lot of different tools in revit and how easy it is. I also learned the differences in IED dimensioning and CEA dimensioning.
I liked the creative aspect and how much time we had to work.
I disliked how many costraints there were.
I i were to do this project again i would do mutiple stories because it would be fun to experiment with.

Floor Plans

In this project we drew up a floor plan with given restrictions.

I learned how floorplans are made and how they look.
I like the creativity in this project.
I dislike that there were so many guidelines to follow.

CEA Shed activity revit

In this project we got introduced to revit my creating a small shed.

In this project i learned how to and started using revit.

In revit it was most challenging to figure out how to do the pond...but i figured it out :)

This is relevent because we will be using this program alot in this class.

Roof project

We built a miniature roof on a kleenex box and researched a roof style.





Drawback
Gable end roofs are the worst roofs for hurricane regions. According to one hurricane survival guide book, a gable end "catches wind like a sail.

Advantage
Cheap and simple.

Found
Everywhere.


I learned the proper term for this roof style.
I liked how we had so much time to work.
I disliked how our teacher was gone and so we did not have clear instructons.
If i did this project again i would pick a harder style.

In this project i learned that the whole project basically revolves around the architect.
I liked the social involvement of this project.
I did not like the limited amount of time we had to work.
What i would do differently is i would budget my time better.

The building of the house was fun.

The reasearch was ok but not as fun.

I wish i picked a harder and more difficult style.

Civil Engineer career

In this project we researched either a career in architecture or in civil engineering. then we interviewed a person in this career.

I contacted Susan Goldberg, one of my mothers clients. She is a project Architect for AEcom. 612-240-9425

I learned that architects generally make a lot of money and enjoy their work.
I enjoyed talking to an actual engineer and telling them about the course im in.
I disliked answering all the questions.
If i were do do this project again i would have conducted my interview earlier.

Saltbox Architecture.

In this project we were assigned a specific architectural style and had four days to build a model of this style. I made a Saltbox style house.

I learned the features of the saltbox architectural style. I really like this project because i like to build and design things. I disliked that we did not have a lot of time or materials to work with. If i did this project over i would pick a harder style because this style was too safe and boring.
